Applied Clinical and Therapies Staff
Dr. Sue Lee

Completed a BA (Biological Sciences) at Macquarie University, a research
Masters degree at Griffith University and a Doctor of Philosophy at the
University of Queensland. After working as a scientific officer in government
analytical laboratories, hospital pathology laboratories and intertiary
institutions Dr.Lee became a lecturer at Griffith University in 1992,
with special responsibilities for laboratory classes which supplement and
illustrate the theoretical material presented to the students. Dr. Lee is
particularly interested in helping students to understand practical
applications, to improve problem-solving skills by integrating and applying
knowledge gleaned from several disciplines and to develop skill and
confidence in performing practical scientific investigations.
Current research is examining the role of the thymus gland in stress
responses, using the toad as a model. Previous research has focussed on
identifying and characterising allergens, and examining the immune response
to these proteins, as well as identifying novel and potentially useful
insect proteins.
A joint supervisor for a PhD student in the field of Aviation
Medicine, three M.Phil students, two Masters students in Clinical Biochemistry
and an honorary research fellow is currently undertaking investigations on the
thymus and stress response.
