Gene Function and Therapies Staff

 Tina Sellinger

Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) in Molecular Biology at Griffith University. Currently: First year PhD student in Nigel Morrison's Laboratory, working on the identification of gene expression within osteoclasts, a particular subset of bone cells. Osteoclasts are fundamental in normal bone remodeling and insights into osteoclast gene expression have a profound impact on the understanding of disorders such as osteoporosis (overabundance of osteoclast activity) and osteopetrosis (lack of osteoclast activity). She aims to uncover new genes and identify the significance of known genes in the developing and mature osteoclast in response to different conditions. This will lead to a greater understanding of abnormalities in the bone environment and the plasticity of the osteoclast and its precursors.
