Population and Molecular Genetics Staff

 Micky Ovcaric

I have a Bachelor of from and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Pharmacy at GU. At GRC I was involved in large migraine study, full time last year, where my duties included the extraction and optimisation of the DNA from over 800 control samples donated by non migraine suffers. The research that I am currently primarily involved in, on a part time basis, is focused on determining whether individuals suffer from rare migraine types, these being FHM, EA2, CADASIL and SCA6. These are further expanded upon in our diagnostic testing section. In addition I have assisted in a variety of other areas, such as quality control in our recently completed genome scan, running genetic markers through our populations, training and supervision of both local and exchange students, in addition to giving a helping hand whenever someone needs it!
